I’m Alastair Somerville from Acuity Design and I am writing this guest blog to ask for help in building a core team of designers and service providers to enter the Design Council’s ‘Working Well’ contest. Entries must be in by 20th June!

The contest offers up to £50k to investigate innovative ways of engaging with young people via digital media, and is part-funded by the Nominet Trust.

I’ve been working on a number of ideas to engage with young people through apps and unused high street shops since attending TEDxBrum. You can read about the early ideas at  SKILLxShop.

With assistance from an app developer and the Ordnance Survey’s Geovation team, I have developed the SKILLxShare app idea and now have a well-developed concept in terms of usability and technological capacity. I know if developed it can work reliably and cheaply.

This slideshow shows the main parts of the app idea, how it works and what help we need:

I am looking for partners that are open to exploring a digital way of engaging with their existing client groups of young people - and, I'm very keen to harness their experience because I want the resultant app to really help some of the 1m+ unemployed young people.

I would love to work with positive people - so, please contact me by email a.somerville@acuitydesign.eu or via twitter @acuity_design if you'd like to get involved!
